In Progress: Re-Directing Taxi

Putting the customer front row

Amsterdam Taxi quality is rated lower than Lagos in a widely quoted customer poll on taxi service satisfaction. The central station Taxi stand is refered to as  'Gaza Strip' by city autorities. A customer died after receiving a karate kick from a driver. Time for action!

Most taxi-insiders are too involved to come up with a solution: the answer will be found elsewhere...
Richard van Veen, Director Taxi Centrale Amsterdam (TCA)

Provide TCA with a tangible product service system, derived from a holistic vision on street taxi services in the Amsterdam region, that will better fulfil the interests of the essential stakeholders, namely (potential) users, taxi drivers, TCA and the city.

Most stakeholders in the taxi world are in favour of a same Amsterdam taxi service but their interests may be different or even conflict. KVD has taken the initiative to reframe the taxi service: Tom Uitendaal will devote his master thesis to the problem. The Taxi Centrale Amsterdam (TCA), the largest assosiation of taxi drivers, has commisionned him to redesign the street taxi service from the groun up.

Method:

Most people are experts on taxi issues: We are very interested in what you may have to say on this project.

Tom is has interviewed both taxi-users (click here!) as well as people who never use a taxi (click here!). He is still interested in you filling in his questionaire! These questionaires are also available in Dutch: taxigebruikers, klik hier! & non-taxigebruikers, klik hier!
